ProductionRR Kabel Unveils Advanced Fire-Safe Wiring, Signals Growth with Acquisition Plans
Leading Indian wire and cable manufacturer RR Kabel has launched a new generation of advanced wires aimed at significantly enhancing fire safety and environmental sustainability. Through a series of strategic launches, the company introduced products featuring Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LS0H) and Fire-Retardant (FFR) technology, designed to replace traditional PVC wires that release dense, toxic smoke in a fire.
The innovative product range, marketed under names including Firex LS0H-EBXL, LS0H-FFR, and Firexec, incorporates several technological advancements. The core LS0H compound ensures that in the event of a fire, the wires emit very little smoke and no toxic halogen gases, which is critical for visibility and safe evacuation in high-density areas like hospitals, schools, and commercial complexes.
Further enhancing performance, the company is utilizing Electron Beam Cross-Linked (EBXL) technology. This process modifies the wire's insulation at a molecular level, resulting in superior durability, higher temperature resistance of up to 125°C, and an expected lifespan of over 50 years. Another new product, 'Firexec', was unveiled with a heat resistance of 105°C, which Managing Director Shreegopal Kabra claimed makes it the "safest wire in the country."
In addition to safety, the wires are designed with a focus on sustainability. They are manufactured from recyclable, halogen-free materials and do not contain harmful heavy metals such as lead, mercury, or cadmium. This makes them an eco-friendly choice and also non-corrosive, which helps extend the life of connected appliances.
RR Kabel has supported the product rollout with high-profile launch events in cities like Guwahati and Mumbai, the latter featuring film star Akshay Kumar. The company also launched a new marketing campaign with the tagline, ‘Akalmand Bano, Sahi Chuno’ (Be Smart, Choose Right), to educate consumers on the importance of safe wiring.
Speaking on the launches, Shreegopal Kabra, Managing Director, RR Kabel, stated, "Fire safety is a critical concern, and at RR Kabel, we are committed to developing innovative solutions that protect lives and property. By combining the benefits of halogen-free materials with advanced EBXL technology, we have created a wire that sets a new benchmark in safety, performance, and sustainability."
Alongside this product offensive, RR Kabel signaled strong business ambitions. The company, which posted approximately Rs 7,000 crore in revenue last fiscal year, is projecting 15-18% growth for the current year. Kabra also confirmed that RR Kabel is actively exploring acquisitions, stating, "We are in talks with a couple of companies." He added that the recent US tariffs on Chinese goods are expected to have a limited impact on the company and the domestic industry, given the low volume of exports to the United States.
